10 Historic Facts about Otumfuo Osei Tutu II You Knew Not
Today 6th May, 2020 marks the seventieth (70) birthday of His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, The Asantehene. We provide you with ten (10) facts about His Majesty that you probably never knew;
1. Otumfuo is the Grand Patron of the Grand Lodge of Ghana, and the Sword Bearer of the United Grand Lodge of England
2. His father Nana Kwame Boakye-Dankwa died on 1st January 2002. He was from Kantinkyere in the Ashanti Region and also the Duke of Asante
3. He was named after his paternal grandfather, Ohenenana Kwaku Duah (Nana Agari), Brahyiahene in the Atwima district
4. His Alma Mater is Sefwi Wiawso Secondary School.
5.Between 1981 and 1985, he was a senior consultant at the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company in Toronto, Canada
6. He founded his own mortgage finance firm in London Primoda Financial Services Limited located on Kilburn High Road, North West London in 1989.
7. He is the first person to receive the ‘Pillar of Peace Award’ in February 2020, in recognition of his effort in restoring peace to the Kingdom of Dagbon which spanned nearly two decades.
8. He holds a degree in Human Resource Management and Public Administration from the London Metropolitan University.
9. He addressed the United Nations General Assembly on 13th September, 2019. This was during the 25TH Anniversary of the UN General Assembly High Level Forum of the Adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.
10. He has hosted all the five sitting Head of States of Ghana in the Fourth Republic at the Manhyia Palace. They are His Excellencies Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kuffour, John Evans Atta Mills (Late), John Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
