2020 BECE Questions and Answers won’t Leak – WAEC assures Ghanaians

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says the stringent measures have been put in place to ensure that examination questions of the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) do not leak.

The integrity of examinations organized by WAEC has come under question following perennial cases of exam leakage.

During the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Exam (WASSCE), there were renewed calls on the government to break WAEC’s monopoly following the leaking of exam papers on social media prior to the time the exam was taken.

At a press conference organized ahead of the start of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination, Head of the Council’s National Office, Mrs Wendy Addy-Lamptey, assured that the narrative would be different this year.

“The Council has put in a great deal of work to get the test items and all logistics needed for the Examination ready. All the question papers have been produced under tight security and surveillance of the Ghana Police and WAEC Security.”

Mrs. Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey also urged candidates in this year’s BECE against using engaging in examination malpractice.

“If candidates applied themselves to learning, they would be able to perform creditably. All candidates should note that they can certainly pass their examinations without cheating. We wish all BECE candidates success in their papers and encourage them to focus on their books. Do not be led astray by fake contents on social media” Mrs. Wendy added

The 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) would be conducted from 14-18 September 2020 with a total of 531,705 candidates comprising 269,419 males and 262,286 females.

Candidates are from 17,440 schools and the exams will be administered in 2007 centers across the country.
