Robert Irwin has reflected on the cute moment an American tourist boldly asked for his phone number while visiting Australia Zoo last week.
Appearing on the Today show this morning, the 18-year-old admitted he was beyond flattered when Megan Grass tried to chat him up during her visit from Utah.
“Honestly, that made my entire day,” he told hosts Karl Stefanovic and Ally Langdon. “It was so kind, really meant the world.” Watch the video above.

But ultimately Irwin – who was on the program to chat about the zoo’s brand new Crocodile Hunter Lodge – said his focus is on Australia Zoo and keeping his late father Steve Irwin’s legacy alive.
“You know, it’s harder … I can’t go out and just give my number to everyone, unfortunately. It is hit and miss, you know,” he said. “It was really kind. It went straight to my heart. It was something that meant the world.”

Days after the playful exchange, Grass was also invited on Today to debrief about her “bold move”, which she shared on TikTok.
“I think it definitely paid off because I got the opportunity to meet Robert, which is really cool,” Grass said on the show. “I definitely was not expecting it to blow up the way it did but it was a really cool experience altogether and Robert was so sweet about it.”

And while Irwin never “looked her up” like he promised to during their encounter, Grass said he is the “sweetest person ever”.
“I was a stranger who asked for his number and he didn’t have to be polite about it but he definitely was,” she said. “I just think he’s a great guy altogether.”
