508 dual desks, valued at GHS127,079, were presented to the District Directorate of Education for distribution to the various schools in the area by the Adaklu District Assembly.
The offices were provided with investment grant funds under the District Performance Appraisal Tool.
The DCE, Mr. Phanuel Donkor Kadey, said that education was one of the top priority areas for the Assembly to invest in.
As a result, he said, work was ongoing on a six-unit classroom block in Anfoe and Waya.
“For now, we are committing the total investment grant to educational development, although the funds could also be used to support the areas of health, sanitation and security as well,” Mr Kadey added.
He said that the dual desks would cater to 1,016 students and help to deal with the furniture deficit of 5,000 in schools.
In the meantime, the DCE has given assurances that the assembly will provide another set of 600 dual desks to the schools in October, this year, in addition to the mono-desks and kindergarten furniture.
The District Director of Education, Mr Francis Yao Agbemadi, expressed his gratitude for the items, saying that the furnishing of furniture has led to effective teaching and learning.
He announced that the desk would be immediately distributed to 11 schools.
Mr Agbemadi stated that the District Directorate of Education would cooperate with the heads of the beneficiary schools to ensure that the desks are well maintained.
