Be Transformational Leaders – Bernard Avle to UPSA 2020 Graduating Students
One of Ghana’s most respected broadcasters, Bernard Koku Avle has charged graduating students of the UPSA to lead the transformation of society as they step into life beyond the walls of the classroom.
Speaking at the 3rd session of Congregation 2020, which saw 1,185 students graduating with undergraduate degrees and diplomas in the fields of Marketing, Administration and Management, Mr. Avle suggested that graduands will notice a completely different world from what they were used to beyond the lives they lived on campus.
He advised that the graduates would need to put into practice the lessons learned in school to great effect in other to be the vessels of the transformational agenda.

“If you move beyond here, the world out there is completely different, but there is hope,” he said. “Do not step out there just looking to get employed by someone. It is good to seek employment, but you also need to have at the back of your mind that you do not want to be just any other employee.
You need to create a presence, and that presence is created when you have a mindset to transform any organization that you find yourself in.”
He added: “You also must exhibit a fair balance between competence and your character because every successful venture that causes change is built on competence.”
Bernard Avle, a First Class student in Economics from the University of Ghana, further urged the graduating students not to get too carried away by their degrees, but rather be futuristic in their thoughts and prioritize the future over the present.
