The Central University was founded by the International Central Gospel Church in Accra, Ghana. It started off as a pastoral training institute in 1988. In June 1991, it was known as the Central Bible College.

The Central University Student Portal, a central portal for students and staff – myportal.central.edu.gh was created for formal and prospective students of the University.

The portal is to help them create an account or log in to perform certain academic action e.g. Course Registration, Fees Payment, Check Result, View Admission List/Status, Acceptance Fees Payment Details, Transcript, View Academic Calander, Extra Credit Hours, Deferment of Admission, etc.
