The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has retained the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after winning Monday’s poll. He was contested against the parliamentary candidate for the opposition National Democratic Candidate, Nurein Shaibu Miggyimah.
Nurein Shaibu Miggyimah obtained 42.74% whiles Kennedy Akompreko Agyapong got 57.26% votes to secure the seat for NPP for the 4th time.
The businessman was first elected a member of parliament in 2000 to the seat of Assin North. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2008 parliamentary elections. In 2012, he was elected in the new seat of Assin Central and was re-elected in 2016.
Many people protected a loss for him because of his crusade he launched on some men of God he perceived to be fake. He worried some leading pastors in Ghana including, Bishop Daniel Obim and Prophet Badu Kobi. But he has proven to be a grass-root politician with the resounding victory he bagged.
