Doctor at LEKMA Hospital test positive for Coronavirus Disease
A doctor who works at the Ledzekuku Municipal Hospital (LEKMA Hospital) has tested positive for COVID-19.
The medical officer is the first frontline medical staff known publicly to have contracted the disease.
According to Dr.Bernard Okoe Boye, the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku constituency who is also a doctor at the LEKMA Hospital, the affected medical officer picked up the virus while working with the Ghana Aviation Company Limited (GACL) to test persons arriving at the country’s airport.
He revealed that the LEKMA Hospital theatre will be closed down and disinfected in accordance with stated protocols since the affected doctor reportedly performed a procedure there on a pregnant woman.
“When you have a confirmed case, the unit where that doctor works, we normally close that place, disinfect and open after two or three days after,” Bernard Okoe Boye said.
