Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum appointed as Ghana’s Education Minister

The Member of Parliament representing Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has reportedly been appointed as the country’s new Minister of Education, a Newspaper said on Tuesday. He takes over from the Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as Nana Poku or NAPO.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum prior to his appointment as the Education Minister this year served as the Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education from March 2017 to late December 2020.

The Teaching Minister In 2019 was voted the Best Performing Deputy Minister of the Year by two research bodies: Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) and FAKS Investigative Services.

Dr Adutwum founded the New Designs Charter Schools but prior to that, he worked as a Mathematics and Information Technology teacher at the Manual Arts High School for ten years and within this period, he founded the International Studies Academy which served as a small learning community for students to thrive academically and socially.

A blog post sighted by Educationweb.com.gh on DailyGuide website indicates the former Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh widely known as NAPO would move to the Energy Ministry.
