GES Promotion Exams: 39% of Teachers Fail as Results are Released

The Ghana Education Service(GES) has released results for the promotion of teachers to various grades( Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent.)

The exam, the first of its kind, was held from the 10th to 21st February 2020 at various centers across the country.

According to a GES letter signed by Anthony Boateng, Deputy Director-General of the GES, and sighted by, 39% of the candidates failed to pass the exam and have therefore been denied promotion while 61%( 18,475) passed the exam and have been appropriately promoted.

“The results for the promotion of teachers held on February 20 and 21, 2020 to various grades in the Ghana Education Service have been released… out of the 30,280 candidates who were shortlisted for the test, 18,475 candidates representing 61.0% were promoted,” a statement released by the GES read in part.

Meanwhile, results of non-teaching staff are yet to be released.
