GES releases 2020/2021 Guidelines and Date for SHS Selection and Placement (CSSPS)


The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is a system used by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to place qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates into Senior High Schools (SHS), Technical Institutes, and Vocational Institutes.

This year’s school selection is scheduled from Monday 21st September to Saturday 31st October 2020. This year Candidates will be expected to Choose five (5) schools, Select Programme and Accommodation for each of the choices.

Candidates must ensure that their choices (1- 3) are in order of preference. Also,

Candidate’s 4th Choice must be from Category E that is Technical and Vocational schools. Again, Candidate’s 5th Choice must be from Category D which is Catchment Area Day school (compulsory).

Candidates are to note that they cannot:

  1. select more than two (2) schools from Category B.
  2. Cannot choose more than one (1) School from Category A

But Candidates who desire to pursue purely Technical Programmes may

select all 1st – 4th Schools from Technical/ Vocational Category (i.e. Category E and must still select the 5th Choice from Category D.

Parents and Guardians are to note that Private SHS and Private TVET SCHOOLS are not BENEFICIARIES of FREE SHS, Candidates who desire to pursue courses in private schools should make their own arrangements with the Private SHS and Private TVET.
