Ghana: 70,000 People to receive Sponsorship from Scholarship Secretariat for 2020/2021 Academic Year

The Director of the Scholarship Secretariat, Mr Kingsley Agyeman encouraged interested applicants to quickly long on to the scholarship portal ( and follow the steps since the process ends by May 15 2020.

According to him, 700,000 people are expected to apply and be sponsored by the tax payers funds for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The secretariat is expected to double up its spending on scholarship from GHS40 million last academic year to GHS80 million this academic year.

Over the years, 16% of senior high school graduates proceed to the tertiary level making it difficult for the country to have the required manpower which is affecting the rapid socio-economic dynamics of the country.

The Director is urging potential students to take the opportunity to register because the President has seen the need for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Four and therefore seen the need for quality education.

Due to inadequate funding, the scholarship secretariat limited the number of potential applicants last year but this year, the secretariat has opened up times two of last academic year.
