Warning: This article contains major spoilers for The CW’s Gotham Knights premiere. Read beyond this point at your own risk.

The episode begins with Turner’s voice explaining that when his parents were killed, he was adopted by the richest man in town who gave him everything he wanted except cause and it turns out that wasn’t the only secret. was kept. In his office in Wayne Tower, Bruce Wayne holds a coin with a mysterious owl symbol on it and then goes to a secret panel in the wall of his office to reveal his Batman mask.

At school, Turner beats Brody to a duel and decides to throw a party at Wayne Manor that evening because Bruce won’t be home. At the party, a child nearly knocks over a vase, but is saved by Carrie Kelly. Butler/Alfred Pennyworth character Cressida alerts Turner to Brody and Stephanie in another room. Meanwhile in Wayne Tower, Harper, Colin, and Duela break into Bruce’s office to steal something from the safe that turns out to be the gun Joe Chill used to kill the Waynes – and the barrel was warm. That’s when they realize it’s a setup. The window is broken and says “Your Bat is Dead” written on it. In the street below, Bruce Wayne lies dead. The police show up, but the trio escape. On the street, Harvey Dent goes to the body of Bruce, who is wearing Batman’s cowl, and reveals his dual identity.

At Wayne Manor, the police show up. Harvey breaks the news to Turner that Bruce has died. At the police station, Turner is devastated, and Harvey says he will find whoever did this and make them pay but Turner doesn’t believe him. Harvey asks him if he knows Bruce is Batman. This is news for Turner. At home, he is confused, but he and Stephanie accidentally run into the Batcave after Turner throws glass at the false wall to hide his entrance, validating what Harvey said.

The city mourns Bruce Wayne now that they know he is Batman. During the funeral, the police obtain information about the whereabouts of the “killers”. Meanwhile, the trio plan to receive their cash payment and flee Gotham but are caught by the police. Later, with no Batman to stop the crime, the Mutant Gang causes trouble all over town. At the police station, the three are questioned. Turner is determined to find out who paid the killers and then he and Stephanie go to the Batcave. She uses the computer to access banking information to find out who was responsible for hiring the killers, but what she discovers is shocking: Turner apparently paid off the killers.

The police appear and arrest Turner almost immediately. Bruce’s lawyers refuse to defend Turner. Harvey, who says he believes Turner is innocent, offers Turner the coin, but Turner does not know what it is. Turner is taken to the cell with Colin, Harper, and Duela. A fight breaks out and the detective moves to take them away. Turner orders his one phone call. The press wants to know if Harvey will recuse himself from the case. The HIs boss wants him to go ahead and sue him – and convict him – because Harvey plans to run for mayor.

Turner calls Stephanie and tells her that she is the only one who can get him out of things. The transfer to Blackgate begins and it turns out that the fight was faked. Harper, Duela, and Cullen use it to steal items that they can use to get out of handcuffs on the transport. They find out that they are going to be killed because this is all just a setup. Chaos and transportation disruptions ensue. Turner tries to stop Duela from killing the cops, but Duela realizes that the cops are part of the frame job and they’re the ones who are going to kill them. It appears the detective will succeed when his hand hits a Batarang, and a cop car is hit with explosives. Robin appears. It’s Carrie Kelly. She thinks they didn’t kill Bruce.

Harvey holds a press conference to double down on the fugitives’ hunt. Stephanie goes to the Batcave to use the computer to try and help Turner. Turner, Colin, Harper and Duela hide in the clock tower at the school and begin trying to form a plan to find out who really killed Bruce. Colin reveals that he stole Detective Ford’s watch and that the reverse bears the same inscription as the coin. Duela reveals that this inscription belongs to the Court of Owls and that they should have just let them get killed because the Court of Owls already runs Gotham City and that is very bad news. In a parking lot elsewhere, Detective Ford is beheaded by a masked figure.
