Government of Ghana absorbs GHS75.4 million WASSCE Exam Fees for 2020


The government has absorbed the cost of the examination fees of final SHS students. This will cost the tax paper some GHS75.4 million. These candidates are the first batch of the free SHS education introduced by President Nana Akufo-Addo in September 2017 also known as the Akufo-Addo

The absorbed registration fees and cost for the upcoming WASSCE 2020 covers the cost of students practical for students in public senior high schools and West Africa Secondary School Certificate,The administrative cost for the examination has also been absorbed.

Meanwhile, all final year students in Senior High Schools are scheduled to return to school tomorrow, Monday 22 June 2020 after three months break following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

In addition to the final year students, second year gold track students will also resume school on the same day.

Under the new protocols to keep the students safe, a maximum of only 25 students will be admitted to a class. Also, day students in schools with boarding facilities will automatically become boarding students. There will be no sporting activities and the wearing of face mask is mandatory for both students, teachers and non-teaching staff.
