Ho Technical University (HTU) named 2020 Best Hospitality Training Institution

The Ho Technical University has been adjudged the best hospitality school at the second edition of the Hospitality Awards Ghana held over the weekend at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

The University ward off competition from two other Technical Universities for the coveted award, which was received by the Registrar, Dr. C. K. Amehoe and Ms. Kugbonu Mawufemor of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM).

At a meeting to present the award to staff of the Department on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga congratulated them for once again making the University proud, after a similar honour of being the best Tourism training institution at the 2020 Volta Tourism Awards.

He said hospitality and tourism training remain a strong niche area of the University, for which every necessary effort would be directed to position it as the best in the world.

The Vice-Chancellor also used the opportunity to formally inform the Department of the promotion of one of their own, Dr. Christopher Mensah to the rank of an Associate Professor by the Governing Council of the University.





He entreated the staff to take inspiration from such feat and tailor their research on the hospitality and tourism sectors in order to attain such heights.

In a remark on behalf of his colleagues, Prof. Mensah, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, expressed gratitude for the award and assured Management of their commitment to sustaining and enhancing the successes chopped by intensifying research in the area.

Present at the meeting were the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Edward K. Ayimey, Dr. Christopher K. Amehoe and other Management members.
