JHS 2 Student Stabs Teenager to Death Over Loaf of Bread

A JHS 2 Student has reportedly stabbed a 19-year-old colleague Richard Baako to death over a loaf of bread estimated to be less than GHC5.00 during a fight at Kwamikrom, near Aboadi, in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

The Agona Nkwanta Police has detained the suspect for further interrogation, whilst the body of the late Richard Baako has been deposited at Dr.Mensah’s Mortuary at New Amanful, near Apowa.

According to the Assemblyman for Aboadi Fasis, Osagyefo Stephen Rowell, last Friday which marks the 63rd Independence Day of Ghana, the arrested together with four other boys from Nkwantaesia, went on a snail hunting expedition.

He said on arrival at Kwamikrom at about 11 pm, the boys became hungry and decided to buy a loaf of bread worth GHC4.00 for their satisfaction, adding that the bread was sliced with the knife used for hunting.

Suddenly, Mr.Rowell said, Richard Baako appeared at the scene and complained that the boys were using a rusted knife in slicing the bread, but they (hunter) refuted the claims, replying that the knife belonged to them.

“This resulted in a fight and both fell on the ground. In the process, the knife of the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased (Richard Baako) in the chest, and he died on the spot,” he said.

According to the eyewitnesses, they made all efforts to get the police to the scene but were unsuccessful.
