Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS) inaugurates project to improve academic work


Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS), one of the schools with the highest student enrolment in the country, has inaugurated an 18-unit classroom project to enhance academic work.

The project, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND), and executed by Messrs. Nickseth Construction Company Limited, comes at a time the School is grappling with infrastructural challenges.

With a student population of more than five thousand, the School’s facilities had been overstretched and in dire need of the requisite infrastructure to accommodate students and teachers.

“The time has come for KSTS to be given a facelift in order not to be overwhelmed by the growing number of students,” Mr. Osei Assibey-Antwi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), told the inaugural ceremony at Patase, Kumasi.

He observed that the strategic location of the School had made it a popular choice for most students in the city.

Consequently, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) would continue to spearhead efforts at expanding facilities at the institution to provide the requisite conducive environment for effective academic work.

Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, said the inadequacy of land for infrastructural projects was the bane of a considerable number of schools in the Region.


He appealed to traditional authorities to come to the aid of the government by releasing lands for educational projects.

Nana Adu Ansere Sarpong, the Chief of Patase and also Abenasehene to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, lauded the government for the project.

He advocated more investment in education to help equip the Ghanaian youth with the requisite knowledge and employable skills needed for their survival in today’s competitive world.
