During the interview with Essence, Good revealed that it wasn’t her decision to separate from her husband of nine years.
“Nothing I would ever have chosen, and when I realized it was happening, I was bummed out. I was like, ‘This is me, Lord. I did everything I could do to the best of my ability. I don’t understand why I did all these things, then this is my final result.”
She added that the couple also did not separate because of her reluctance to have children. Or because one of them is involved in “malicious” activity.
Meghan Good revealed she doubted giving celibacy another try
Plus, the 41-year-old revealed that she’s already considered giving celibacy a second try — something she and Franklin have published a book about, Waiting: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love.
According to a 2016 article by NBC News, Franklin felt that celibacy taught him the power of discipline, and credited the practice for giving her “necessary recovery time.”
After the divorce, Judd admitted she “struggled” with the idea of trying celibacy again.
“I struggled with that. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I should be celibate right now. I don’t know what to do. I even was early on when I felt like, obviously, I still believed in Jesus, but I’m not sure what to do.'” I wouldn’t believe in him about anything else anymore.”
The couple’s divorce was finalized 7 days after their 10-year wedding anniversary
According to Essence, Good and Franklin’s divorce was finalized on June 23, 2022. The milestone occurred just seven days after their 10th wedding anniversary.
During the interview, Good opened up about how the split affected her faith.
“It was tough because my biggest fear was what happened to me between my mom and dad, which was that you were with your husband for 10 years and you broke up… It took me a long time to understand that God did not do the divorce. I have a fawn and I have free will. So, I had to I accept that God did not lie when he told me that he was my husband He was my husband. But he didn’t say we’d be together forever…
Jude went on to explain how her view of the unfortunate event had changed.
“God’s Word remains true no matter what happens to you and if anything changes, it is because sometimes life deals you with energies that you least expect or expect, but He will still bring it to you and still have a wonderful plan for your life.”
In addition, the 41-year-old explained that she is “grateful” for the time she and Franklin spent together. But now she is looking forward to “starting life over” in her “beginning”.
“Once I accepted it all, I felt so grateful for the time we had together and the beautiful journey. Then there was the excitement. Starting life all over again, at the peak of my life, with so many amazing things happening in my life and in my career. I have to do this again.”
