Meet the disabled student of ‘OWASS’ who was given a new wheelchair and GHC1,000

A young Form One student at Opoku Ware School (OWASS), born disabled, whose father abandoned his mother after she gave birth to another disabled child has received a wheelchair and a GHC1,000 cash donation.
Identified only as Kwasi for the purpose of this article, he completed junior high school with aggregate 8 in the 2019 BECE and was placed in his first-choice school, OWASS.
His mother is a table-top tomatoes seller at Aburaso in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, Ashanti Region and has been struggling to raise her kids by herself.
Unlike his father, Kwasi’s best friend has not abandoned him.
Kwasi’s friend, who gained admission together with him to OWASS, has been wheeling him around for many years.
He continues to wheel him dutifully on campus and on March 7, 2020, he did the honours of wheeling him down the red carpet to meet President Akufo-Addo at 68th anniversary speech day of OWASS.
The young man received the cash donation and wheelchair from a Samaritan in the US who donated a new wheelchair and an amount of GHC1000 to the boy when he heard his story.
His mother could not hold back her tears and every single person was moved.
