NSMQ 2020 Prelims: St. Thomas Aquinas SHS finds its way into One-Eighth Stage after a win over Ghanata, St. Mary’s SHS
St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School has advanced to the One-eighth stage of the National Science and Quiz 2020. They beat regional fellows St. Mary’s SHS and Ghanata SHS in the Tuesday’s preliminary stage contest. In the third round in which students deal with the ‘Problem of the day’, St Thomas Aquinas leaped with 41 points leaving St Mary’s and Ghanata SHS with 17 and 9 points respectively.
At the end of the contest, Ghanata garnered 25points, St. Mary’s SHS, 30, and St. Thomas Aquinas, 65.

At the end of the contest, St Thomas Aquinas SHS lead the table with 65 points, followed by St Mary’s SHS with 30 points and Ghanata SHS with 25 points.
Despite the defeat, there’s a bit of optimism for St. Mary’s SHS as they await the results from other contests and hope to be among the list of highest scoring runner up schools in the preliminary
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, supporters of various schools were not allowed at the venue but could partake virtually through the NSMQ Facebook and YouTube channel.
