NSMQ 2023: Prempeh College, St James Sem, Opoku Ware and all schools that won on day 2 of one-eighth

Nine schools qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) on day two of the one-eighth contest.

Opoku Ware School was one of the first schools to win their match on Thursday after beating Tamale Islamic SHS and Nifa SHS.

The Santasi school won their contest with 49 points while Tamale Islamic SHS and Nifa SHS lost with 42 and 20 points respectively.

St John’s School also beat St Mary’ Boy’s SHS and Ghana SHS, Koforidua to secure a slot in the quarter-finals.

They got their spot with 38 points beating St Mary’ Boy’s SHS with two points Ghana SHS, Koforidua ended the contest with 27 points.

For the third contest of the day Osei Tutu SHS won their contest beating University Practice SHS and Winneba SHS.

Osei Tutu SHS won with 42 points while University Practice SHS and Winneba SHS lost with 36 and 20 points respectively.

Opoku Ware School, St John’s School and Osei Tutu SHS will battle it out at the quarter-final stage.

Meanwhile, the fourth contest saw St James Sem. SHS win their contest after a fierce battle with Our Lady of Mt Carmel Girls SHS and St Thomas Aquinas.

St James Sem won after a tiebreaker was held between them and Our Lady Mt Carmel to decide the winner when they both accrued 44 points after the final round.

Presby SHTS, Aburi faced off with KNUST SHS and T.I AMASS, Kumasi in the fifth contest on day 2.

With 33 and 32 points respectively KNUST SHS and T.I AMASS, Kumasi lost to Presby SHTS who got 47 points.

On the other hand, Pope John Min. Sem. won their contest with an impressive 56 points, the highest point of the day.

They beat Simms SHS and Sunyani SHS who had 47 and 29 points respectively.

St James Sem., Pope John Sem. & SHS and Presby SHTS, Aburi will face off in the quarter-final.

Meanwhile, Labone SHS and SDA SHS, Agona lost to Aburi Presby SHS. Labone lost with 42 points while SDA SHS got 19 points.

Aburi Presby SHS won with 45 points.

The 2022 first runners-up Prempeh College beat T.I AMASS, Fomena and Navrongo SHS to qualify for the quarter-finals.

They won with 52 points while T.I AMASS, Fomena and Navrongo SHS got 34 and 28 points respectively.

For the last contest of the day Mawuli School beat Amaniampong SHS and St Catherine SHS to win the contest. 

Mawuli SHS beat their competitors with 52 points.

They will face off with Prempeh College and Aburi Presby SHS for the quarter-final match.
