OnePlus’s upcoming Smartphone may have the display notch: Report

First, it was introduced by Apple through its iPhone X, now most of the newly launched smartphones are carrying this design. It is the display notches. Vivo and Oppo have just unveiled their new smartphones named Vivo V9 and Oppo F7 with the iPhone X-like notch on the top of the display. Now, as per the latest report, OnePlus will join the race soon. Carl Pei, CEO of OnePlus recently informed that to stay on the top the Smartphone makers will have to maximize the screen using the notch. Well, that has indicated that OnePlus is planning to launch its new Smartphone with the display notch.

Explaining, the importance of the display notch Carl Pei stated “It’s a very clear decision: more real estate for the user. Learn to love the notch.” The display notch enables Smartphone makers to give more space on display. With this, now many other elements now can be placed in the top intelligently. Some elements like time and notification icon now can be placed in the corners providing more space for the content. It will be around 19.616mm x 7.687mm in size.

OnePlus will not eliminate the notch entirely. Because it can affect the selfie and audio quality and OnePlus will not do that with its devices. OnePlus will keep them along with notification LED. As per the information, the display notch will be bigger than the notch the Essential phone has, but will smaller than Apple iPhone X. It is Apple who has brought this trend into this industry.

It is expected that OnePlus’s upcoming devices will be named as OnePlus 6 and may support under-display fingerprint scanner. It may have the gesture-based navigation. The device may come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, an 8GB RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
