PPEs are available, schools can collect them from their education offices – MoE
Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education (MoE), Kwasi Obeng-Fosu has admonished heads of senior high schools that are yet to receive government’s COVID-19 items to claim them from their respective education offices.
According to him, government distributed Personal Protective Equipment including alcohol-based hand sanitizers, Veronica Buckets, packets of soap, and tissue papers to all educational offices ahead of the reopening of schools through the help of their stakeholders.
“Every center where PPEs must get to have been delivered latest by last Sunday [June 21, 2020]. So if there is any school which has not received their PPEs up to date, they must go to the centers and collect their shares. Because if others have received theirs and you have not, it means the PPEs are available. So they have to go to the centers and pick their stuffs,” he said.
Speaking on Campus Exclusive on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, Mr. Obeng-Fosu assured that students who may exhibit COVID-19 symptoms in the course of teaching and learning activities will be tested and isolated to avert further spread.
In anticipation to the reopening of junior high schools on Monday, June 29, 2020, he said the Education Ministry will liaise with its relevant partners to fumigate and disinfect the institutions before the final year students resume academic activities.
In his tenth national address, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the partial reopening of schools so as to enable final year students at various levels to write their final exams adding that government will put in place the right mechanisms to ensure that students, teaching and non-teaching staff are protected amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
