Primetime Ltd Officially Launches National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ 2020)

The 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz has been launched. The competition which is usually organized between the month of June and July is now being organized in September due to Covid-19.

Aside the change in usual date of the competition, the effects of the virus has forced the organizers of the competition to adopt other ways of ensuring safety while bringing Ghanaians their favorite competition.

Speaking at the launch Managing Director of Primetime limited, Mrs. Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare shared how different this year’s edition would be from the previous years.

“The NSMQ would be produced in a different format that has been approved by the GES. Unlike previous years, where all the five stages of the competition were held in Accra and all 135 schools came into camp in Accra, the preliminary stage of NSMQ 2020 would feature 108 schools would be held in the regions. This decentralized format is to reduce the number of people who would come into camp in Accra at the same time. In addition, there will be no live audiences in the competition. To make up for it all contests will be streamed live across all our social media platforms.”

Further speaking, she said that with the organization of this year few challenges the organization was faced with towards the planning of this year’s National Science and Math Quiz.

“We tried a virtual approached but we realised that we would fa. Connectivity being one of them we to work a virtual competition so we looked forward for the lifting of the lockdown. It wasn’t so much hosting the competition but rather the school being able to move their students. First of all being able to meet with their students and train them and especially remember that schools were closed so that was another challenge”

Also speaking exclusively with UniversNews, and monitored by shstrendz.com Chairman of Primetime Limited, Dr. Kwaku Mensa-Bonsu shared his hope that in this year’s edition of the competition, a less endowed school or girls should win the competition.

“I am hoping that a less endowed school would win better still a girls school because we haven’t seen the girls going for the gold. We want to see the girls win for me that would satisfy me and one of the reasons for doing this program. I would say I have achieved it.”
