Release Date, Cast, Plot & Everything We Know So Far

Better Call Saul finished on AMC in 2022, but Bob Odenkirk and the rest of the cast are already back together for a new show called Lucky Hank. How do you follow up on one of the best TV shows ever (at least in this writer’s opinion)? We’re going to find out one way or another.

Lucky Hank, which used to be called Straight Man, has a few other big names behind the camera besides Odenkirk. Aaron Zelman (Silicon Valley, The Killing) and Paul Lieberstein (The Office, The Newsroom) will be the showrunners. Oscar winner Peter Farrelly and Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul executive producers Mark Johnson and Bob Odenkirk will also be involved.

Here is everything we know about Lucky Hank, the new show from AMC and Bob Odenkirk.

Lucky Hank: Release Date Details

It was revealed that AMC would show Lucky Hank in the spring of 2023. On January 10, 2023, it was reported that the show would start on March 19, 2023. On March 11, 2023, the show’s first episode was shown at the SXSW Festival.

What Is The Plot Of Lucky Hank?

Richard Russo, who won the Pulitzer Prize, got the idea for Lucky Hank from his book Straight Man, which came out in 1997. The show’s original name was “Straight Man,” which was also the name of the book it was based on until the beginning of January 2023.

William Henry Devereaux Jr. is a character in both the book and the TV show. He is the unlikely acting head of the English department at Railton College, which is in Pennsylvania’s rust belt and has very little money. Having a midlife crisis, Devereaux must do everything he can to save the school, which is dying.

His life’s ups and downs, his daughter’s constant begging for money, and people discussing “necrophilia” have worn him out. Hank doesn’t understand why all the wealthy students who compare their writing to Chaucer’s are so obsessed with happiness.

He says that most adults are going through hard times. In Lucky Hank, our shy main character is in the middle of a setting that is all too familiar. The town and its people have slowly lost their charm and are falling into darkness.

He is taking notes on people who give up in the suburbs and on private talks about happiness. Hank makes a big mistake after getting mad at a student and yelling at his boss at Railton College. People press the government to fire him because they call it “the capital of mediocrity.”

Also, it is in the way these two talks to each other that we see the layers come out and learn that Lily is also questioning her reality as Hank’s life falls apart.

As the vice principal of a nearby high school, she starts to think about her choices. She also wants to move out of their neighborhood. Lily, played by Enos, is fascinating to watch as she keeps Hank, played by Odenkirk, from falling apart. As yin and yang, their relationship is soft and easy to get along with. It’s made up of quiet chaos.

Lucky Hank: Cast Details

In the TV shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk played Saul Goodman in a way that will always be remembered. Odenkirk did a great job of making a character seen as a total jerk in the original series into a sad person.

This adds to the appeal of William Henry Devereaux Jr.’s upcoming part as Lucky Hank’s leading man. Odenkirk has recently been in The Post, Little Women, Long Shot, and the action movie Nobody. He has also been in the TV show Better Call Saul.
