Salaries of Newly promoted Teachers paid in May to prevent ‘back-pay arrears’

Newly promoted teachers who took part in the February 2020 teachers’ promotion examination have been paid their upgraded salaries in May 2020, a month after the release of their results.

Information gathered by EducationGhana indicates there have been some technical challenges with some of the newly promoted teachers salaries for the month of May, though the majority of them have been successfully paid.

The challenges confronted by such newly promoted teachers are being worked on for a possible payment in June 2020.

The decision to pay teachers immediately after they have been promoted is to end the issue of ‘back-pay and legacy arrears’ that has been the bottleneck of the Ghana Education Service.
