Teachers demonstrate over their unpaid arrears.

In spite of the strike announced by three teacher unions, some public schools have seen tearchers answering to their posts for educating teaching duties..

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) proclaimed the strike beginning today once again the non-payments of their back arrears.

At the Archbishop Porter Girls’ Senior High School in Sekondi-Takoradi for example, the Headmistress of the school, Charlotte Asiedu Musah, revealed to Citi News that classes have been continuous as the teacher’ unions were yet to advise the school about any strike.

“So far as I am concerned, my teachers’s rep at NAGRAT and GNAT hasn’t educated me. They haven’t come to disclose to me whether they are protesting or not.”

At the point when she went on her rounds, she stated: “teachers were in the various classrooms teaching at the moment.”

The Archbishop Porter Girls’ Local Representative of NAGRAT, Mercy Doreen Sam, revealed to Citi News the local branch office is yet to get an official notification about the strike.

“No letter has been brought so teachers have come to class okay… since we have not gotten any letter, we can’t state we are returning home to rest so we are holding up until the opportunity the letter comes.”

While some teachers in certain schools in the Ashanti Region have consented to the strike, others have not. Classes were in session at a portion of the schools Citi News visited.

These headteachers who decided to stay unknown state teachers at the schools have turned up and classes were continuous.

The classrooms of schools that compiled with the strike were bolted up. A portion of the students influenced by the strike decided to utilize their free period to play football at a nearby park

In Tamale, some state funded schools Citi News visited were clinging to the strike proclaimed by the three teacher unions.

Albeit and few teachers were present, they have not been seen teaching.

At the Kanvili Junior High School, students who were booked to start their finish of term tests were seen lingering around the school’s compound.

As per them, their teachers have dropped the assessment because of the strike.

A portion of the students who addressed Citi News said the activity is affecting adversely on academic work and engaged the administration to address the situation of the teachers.
