Texas Mother Accused Of Abandoning Kids For Two Months & ‘Making Social Media Posts’ About It Smiles In Arrest Photo, Charged

Mother of Texas, identified as Crow YatesThe 31-year-old is accused of abandoning her children from September 2022 until November 2022 before the father of her children reported her to the police. Soon after, Yates reportedly fled — though not without posting about the allegations on social media.

Police arrested Yates in Alabama on March 8. She appears unfazed, smiling in the photo of the arrest shared by the Romanian Forest Police Department.

Reportedly, the mother asked for lipstick to be applied before she was handcuffed, Chief Carlisle told KTRK.

“She was photographed in handcuffs with a full smile on her face and seemed unfazed by the charges against her for endangering her children,” Carlisle said. “I don’t know if she was playing a role or whatever, but, I think, she was playing for the camera. She wanted to smile. She wanted to look good. The arresting officer reportedly said she asked about putting on lipstick before the photo was taken.”

Yates now faces two counts of “abandonment of a child without intent to return.”

College father Raven Yates left the children alone at home for two months

According to PEOPLE, Raven Yates was charged with abandoning her 12-year-old daughter and her 3-year-old son on September 28, 2022. The father of the 12-year-old girl notified authorities on November 14 that the children had been left behind. alone after his daughter repeatedly asked him to “send food regularly”.

The Romanian Forest Police Department explained more in a press release.

“The father was informed that the mother of his child had been seen in Mobile, Alabama, without her children and he realized they were home alone because his daughter asked him to send food regularly.”

The father of the 12-year-old reportedly flew in from California to check on the children further.

A 31-year-old mother responded to police posts on social media looking for her

Police began searching for the 31-year-old mother, but kept the information on their search, Chief of the Romanian Forest Police Stephen Carlisle told PEOPLE.

However, when authorities were unable to locate Yates, they shared news about the investigation on social media. According to Carlyle, the case attracted the attention of many, including Yeats herself.

The Romanian Forest Police Department stated that Yates was “actively making posts on social media about the situation”. Carlyle elaborated on the statement further, referring to Yeats as “a person who loves attention”.

“She saw it, just like we thought she would, and then she started posting actively on social media because she’s the kind of person who loves attention.”

During her time away from her children, Yates posted many videos and photos on her Instagram account. One included a video of Yates mocking her name in the news. Another showed that she enjoyed other extravagances while her children were allegedly left on their own.

However, in one post, Yates appeared to deny the allegations against her, asserting that she was minding her own business and knew “the truth”.

Police alleged that Yates’ social media posts were direct responses to their investigation

According to Police Chief Carlisle, some of Yate’s social media posts were made in direct response to the authorities’ investigation.

“You watched me on TV say the lockers were empty when we walked in [the home where the children were found], so she started reacting to that by posting pictures of cupboards with food, which had plenty of food left when she left. But after that long, it’s too long, and the food supply will be cut off.”

The posts were published in February, and also included one where Yates was seen with her children. However, Carlyle explained that these posts were old and the children were staying with the family at the time.

“She wasn’t with them. Those were older photos. We know where the kids were. The kids were with family members.”

Furthermore, Carlisle explained that Yeats never denied giving up her children.

“But she never denied that she left the kids alone, but she did start posting pictures of herself with the kids, and honestly, I think she was enjoying the attention.”

The arrest and extradition of Raven Yates

According to a press release from the Romanian Forest Police Department, the Texas mother was arrested on March 8 at her apartment complex in Mobile, Alabama.

Police revealed that it appeared she was staying there with a friend.

According to the press release, Yates was charged with two counts of “abandoning a child without intent to return.” It is not clear if Yates has hired an attorney to comment on her behalf or if she has filed a petition.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old is waiting for his extradition to Montgomery County, Texas. However, it is unclear how long this process might take.
