UG: Delegation from Graphic Communications Group Limited Pays Visit to Vice-Chancellor

As part of their 70th Anniversary celebrations, a delegation from the Graphic Communications Group Limited, led by the Managing Director, Mr. Ato Afful, has paid a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. The visit was to seek partnership with the University for the mutual benefit of the two institutions.

In his introductory remarks, Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, Acting Director of the Institutional Advancement Office, expressed his profound gratitude to the team from the Graphic Communications Group Limited for their zeal to partner with the University.

Mr. Franklin Sowah, Director, Marketing and Sales, Graphic Communications Group Limited, in brief remarks noted that the partnership will seek to shape Ghana’s developmental agenda.

Mr. Ato Afful, MD, Graphic Communications Group Limited, in his address, commended the University for its vital role in knowledge dissemination and providing opportunities for students to engage in practical training. He added that his organisation intends to expose both students and faculty to the Graphic News Plus app which offers enormous benefits in their research work and day to day operations in this technological era. Mr. Afful disclosed that the company’s Massive Print Press Operation will be available to assist in the printing of textbooks, manuscripts, and exam booklets.

Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellor, in his remarks, indicated that the University is basically involved in teaching, research and extension; thus extending frontier knowledge to affect the society, nation and the international community positively. Consequently, strategic plans which embrace partnership will go a long way to bridge the gap between academia and industry. He was hopeful that the partnership between the two institutions will help accelerate progress.

The Vice-Chancellor finally commended the Graphic Communications Group Limited on the improvement in the quality of their publications over the years. He encouraged them to remain neutral and objective in the dissemination of information and further urged them to project the positive aspects and not only the negative news of institutions in promoting Ghana and the world at large.

Present at the meeting was Prof. George Nkansah, Director, Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST), University of Ghana; Mr Alfred Quartey; Principal System Analyst UG; and Mr Kobby Asmah, Editor, Graphic Communications Group Limited.
