UG: Isaac Agyemang-led SRC to hand over administration on July 12 at 6pm
The Student’s Representative Council of the University of Ghana has announced its handing over ceremony to pass the mantle of leadership from the current SRC administration to the interim SRC executives for the 2020/2021 academic year.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of the current SRC, Denise Kagal Abaniaba on Friday July 10, 2020 indicated that the ceremony is scheduled to take place at the SRC Union Building on July 12, 2020 at 6pm.
UGSRC appointed Interim Executives
The Executive Committee of the University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) has appointed new executives to head the affairs of the student body for the time being.
This follows the failure of the SRC to hold elections to elect new principal officers for the 2020/2021 academic year.
In anticipation of the expiration of the tenure of office of the Isaac Agyemang led administration, the Executive Committee comprising all active Junior Common Room (JCR) Presidents have triggered Article 25 of the SRC constitution.

In circumstances where the SRC is unable to organize an election and the tenure of an incumbent officer is about to expire, article 25 clause 7 a. i. allows for ‘One of the JCR Presidents of the Halls of residence as Acting SRC President’.
“Article 25 (7) (a). In the event of the removal from office en-block of the Executive Officers under this article, the remaining members of the Executive Committee shall nominate and/or appoint:
(I) One of the JCR Presidents of the Halls of residence as Acting SRC President;”
Pursuant to that, the Executive Committee on June 29, 2020 elected JCR President of the Akuafo Hall, Nana Amo Ntow Fianko as the interim SRC President for the 2020/2021 academic year.
