Saham Insurance Donates Personal Protective Equipment to University of Ghana

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu has received a donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) valued at GHS20,000 on behalf of the University from Saham Insurance to aid in the fight against the novel corona virus.

Professor Robert Ebo Hinson, Acting Director, Office of Institutional Advancement, in his introductory remarks noted that Saham Insurance as a corporate institution, has expressed interest in initiating some partnership with the University of Ghana.

In brief remarks, Mrs. Mabel Porbley, Managing Director, Saham Insurance, expressed appreciation for the warm reception. She indicated that businesses can thrive only when communities are protected. This has therefore informed the decision to make a nationwide donation of the PPE. She added that the outbreak of the novel corona virus has presented an obligation of helping mankind and supporting businesses to flourish financially.

The Vice-Chancellor in his remarks, expressed profound gratitude to Saham Insurance for the donation. He emphasized that no institution can be an island because everybody needs the other to progress developmentally. He therefore called for greater collaborations between the two institutions. Professor Oduro Owusu underscored the importance of truthfulness and honesty as key factors in accomplishing developments.  He was hopeful that the donation will go a long way to adequately protect the medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals at the University Hospital in discharging their mandate of caring for the sick and ultimately reduce the number of cases in Ghana.
