Some students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have welcomed the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to reopen schools across the country.

Speaking to Ghanaians during his 21st Covid-19 address to the nation, the President said the time has come for schools to reopen after close to ten months of closure in a frantic effort to stop the rapid spread of the Covid-19.

Unlike learners in the Kindergarten, primary and junior high school, tertiary students have been home for barely five months yet they yearn for a grand return.

Speaking to UPSANEWSROOM.com’s Boamah Venessa Oduma Tuesday, some students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra said they have rested enough and want to be back in school.

Richlove lanquaye, a level 300 Accounting student expressed excitement about the announcement by the President.

“We’ve been home enough and I think it’s about time we went back to school. The earlier we complete [the school], the better for us,” she said excitedly.

Another student, Eunice Adjei, a level 300 Accounting student said: “I’m very happy to return to school.”

A level 400 Banking and Finance student, Dennis told UPSANEWSROOM.com‘s he’s delighted about going back to school, explaining further that it is an opportunity to get in touch with the lecturers.

“We, the level 400s especially are very delighted because we need to complete and also know what the future holds for us,” he said.

On her part, Audrey, a level 300 student thinks it is good for schools to be reopened.

“I feel it is normal to return to school. [Somehow] I knew we would eventually go back to school,” she said.
