WAEC Ghana reveals who set 2020 WASSCE and BECE Questions
According to the non-profit-making organization responsible for conducting the country’s national examination, WASSCE questions for Ghanaian candidates are annually set by teachers in Ghana and not hired third parties as speculated.
Some Ghanaians particularly students have the mentality that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) every year hires people to set questions for the conduct of the BECE and WASSCE for school candidates.
The Head of School Examination at WAEC, Mr Godfred Addo in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org said “exams questions are set by our own teachers, we don’t go and hire people from the ‘moon’ to come and set the questions”
The WAEC staff disclosed this in a Facebook live programme dubbed “Engage WAEC” with host Winifred Ampiaw on Friday, July 23, 2020.
Mr Godfred Addo consequently urged this year’s WASSCE candidates who will from August 3, 2020 sit for Integrated Science to take their studies seriously.
“Candidates should make sure they take their studies seriously, whatever they were taught they should be serious with it, WAEC set the questions based on the topics they were taught in school”, he noted.
He further advised candidates to be careful of unscrupulous persons who claim to be working with WAEC and promise to leak the WASSCE questions at a fee.
Mr Godfred earlier in a Zoom interview with Samuel Eshun on Happy Morning show indicated that the WASSCE questions are sealed and safe with a 24-hour security guard.
He also cautioned operators of rogue websites to desist from their illegal act, adding that the Council has put effective measures in place to clamp down such website and groups on various social media platforms.
