The Management of the non-profit-making organization responsible for the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination says it will in September this year release the Certificate of prospective candidates who sat for the 2019 edition of WASSCE for School Candidates.

The Head of School Examination at WAEC, Mr Godfred Addo disclosed this in a Facebook live programme dubbed “Engage WAEC” with host Winifred Ampiaw monitored by Georgeweb.org

Asked when certificates of candidates who sat for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) would be released, Mr Godfred Addo said WAEC has started printing the certificates and will be ready in two months time which from our calculation is September 2020.

“WAEC has started printing them so in two months time they will be ready for collection,” he told host Winifred Ampiaw.

He urged candidates to take proper care of the certificate since the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) now issues it for once do not issue it for the second time in case it is lost or damaged.

Mr Godfred, however, said lost or damaged certificates are replaced with attestation which is just similar to a certificate.

Mr Addo further advised the general public particularly students to be wary of unscrupulous persons who claim to be working with WAEC and promise to upgrade their wassce at a fee.

“Those fraudsters are not from WAEC or WAEC officials, they are fraudsters, no WAEC staff will ask you to pay money for results upgrading ….the WAEC database is secured and can not be tempered with”, he cautioned.

The Head of Public Relations of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe commenting on results upgrading issue said WAEC has a system for tertiary institutions (Universities, teacher and nursing training colleges etc) for confirming the authenticity of a WAEC result after admission.

“Anybody who pays money for results upgrading should realise that he or she is just giving away money to a fraudster who is just going to squander it for free, there is nothing like results upgrading”. she added.
