WASSCE 2020 Begins Officially Today August 3 in Ghana
The 2020 edition of the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) officially starts today Monday, August 3, 2020, for all prospective candidates in the country despite the presence of the locally transmitted coronavirus that has claimed at least 182 lives as of August 3.
All prospective candidates in various Senior High Schools across the country will today start the much-awaited WASSCE with Integrated Science Paper 1 & 2 in the morning at 8: 30 am and others after the first paper will take respectively.
The conduct of this year’s West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination earlier scheduled for June was suspended by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country.
However, the Council after consultation with other member countries and relevant stakeholders announced to officially administer the 2020 edition of the WASSCE from August 3 to September 5 this year. Even though some candidates commenced the practical aspect of the examination mid-July.
President Akufo-Addo in one of his nation’s addresses disclosed that 313,837 candidates nationwide will sit for the examination to be administered from today Monday, August 3, 2020.
Following the conduct of today’s examination, a leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dzifa Gunu reportedly on August 1, 2020, shared on his Facebook timeline some questions papers alleged to be leaked 2020 WASSCE Integrated Science questions.
