WASSCE 2020: WAEC amends Timetable for Principles of Cost Accounting 2 & 1
The organizers of the 2020 WASSCE for School Candidates has amended the 2020 WASSCE timetable for Principles of Cost Accounting 2 & 1 after a mistake was reported by some concerned educational groups.
According to the West African Examination Council (WAEC), it has scheduled the conduct of the Principle of Cost Accounting 2 & 1 from the initial date Saturday, September 5 to Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 13:30hrs to 16:30hrs”.
A statement from the non-profit-making organization dated Friday, July 24, 2020, copied to SHSTRENDZ.COM said: “Principle of Cost Accounting 2 & 1 originally scheduled for Saturday 5th September will now be administered on Wednesday 26th August, 2020 from 13:30hrs to 16:30hrs”.
The Council’s amendment of the 2020 WASSCE timetable follows calls and appeals from concerned educational groups particularly the Africa Education Watch for a review of the timetable.
The African Education Watch raised a concern that two major elective subjects i. e. Financial Accounting and Principles of Cost Accounting which were to be written on the same day with only an hour break was “not only strenuous but goes against the international standards of assessments at the secondary level”.
The Watch suggested for the Examination Council to reschedule the papers to either Sunday September 6 or Monday, September 7, 2020.
But, WAEC after considering the request has settled to conduct the two elective subjects in different dates to give the business students ample time to learn each subject respectively.
